ADVANCE JumpStart New Student Orientation
The Office of Multicultural Development extends a special invitation to you as part of your New Roo Orientation experience. Join us for ADVANCE JumpStart New Student Orientation, an overnight on-campus excursion at The University of Akron.
What is ADVANCE?
ADVANCE JumpStart New Student Orientation is a program designed to acclimate diverse and historically underrepresented students to UA campus and culture. Participants interact with current UA students, mentors, faculty/staff and administrators who teach them how to recognize and address challenges typically encountered during the first-year experience.
What to expect and experience:
- Come to campus a day before your New Roo Orientation for an overnight experience in one of UA’s residence halls.
- Hang out on-campus with other diverse and historically underrepresented students and make friends before classes begin.
- Learn important skills for success during your first year at UA.
- Meet staff who will help you through your college experience.
- Learn about Learning Communities offered by the Office of Multicultural Development that you can join to help you connect with other students taking the same classes.
Details & registration
- No additional charges to participate.
- Overnight stay and all meals included.
- Spacing is limited and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
