Dr. Jarrod Tudor has been named dean of The University of Akron Wayne College, pending approval by the Board of Trustees. He will assume the role on Aug. 22.

Tudor comes to Wayne College from Kent State University, where he was dean and chief administrative officer of Kent State University at Geauga and the Twinsburg Regional Academic Center. At Geauga and Twinsburg, he was responsible for the oversight and management of a $15 million budget, 70 full-time personnel and 2,600 students across two campus locations.

Interim President Matthew J. Wilson said Tudor’s accomplished career will serve Wayne College and its students well.

‘Record of accomplishment’

“Dr. Tudor has built an impressive record of accomplishment in recruitment, faculty and staff development, student success initiatives and shared governance,” Wilson said. “He has established innovative College Credit Plus and workforce development programs. He has also been responsible for accreditation reviews and articulation agreements. All of these qualities will complement the many strengths already in place at Wayne College and our satellite sites.”

Tudor served Kent State for 20 years in several capacities, including full-time faculty member for 17 years at its Stark Campus as director of paralegal studies, a member of faculty senate on the university level, member of faculty council on the regional campus level, and provost fellow. Tudor taught law and social science courses in the fields of political science, history, business administration, higher education administration, journalism, criminal justice, and paralegal studies.

“I have long admired the commitment of Wayne College to its students both intellectually and through strong student programming,” Tudor said. “Wayne College and The University of Akron together have a tremendous academic reputation and a rich tradition of serving students and surrounding communities.”

Tudor has earned nine degrees, including a Ph.D. from Kent State University in 2005 and a master of laws degree in intellectual property law from UA’s School of Law in 2012.
