Association of The University of Akron Retirees' Scholarship
The Association of The University of Akron Retirees’ Scholarship was created in March 2007. It is the intention of the Association of The University of Akron Retirees to endow this scholarship and to continue to build upon it with yearly fundraising.
The Association of The University of Akron Retirees will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2008. The group is comprised of University of Akron retirees who wish to continue their involvement in the life of the University and its students. The group meets for social, educational, and advocacy purposes, and its members support and enrich the University in many ways.
The scholarship will be awarded to a full-time junior or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and some degree of financial need, but who is ineligible for federal or state need-based grant assistance. Additional criteria to be considered are community involvement and a strong work ethic. The scholarship applications will be reviewed by the Association of The University of Akron Retirees’ Selection Committee in collaboration with the Office of Student Financial Aid. Final selection will be made by the Committee. Consideration will be given to rotation among colleges, and the scholarship is renewable.
