April Safety Focus: Extension Cords and Electrical Safety

The April Safety Focus is Extension Cords and Electrical Safety. Please review your labs and office areas for unsafe use of extension cords.

  1. Extension cords should not be connected together for length…it is not safe to string cords over 9 floors of a building…
  2. Look for any broken cords in the labs with hot plates, heat guns, etc.
  3. Do not use extension cords for space heaters. (All space heaters should be unplugged when not in use!)
  4. Make sure extension cords do not cross an area of travel, if it is needed please contact me for further safety suggestions.

Anyone who actually reads this and sends me an email picture of an unsafe cord situation will be entered into a drawing at the end of the month for a Starbucks gift card.

Make it a Safer Day!
