CPSPE Alumnus and SKYi Founder Wins Gold at PLASTINDIA02/27/2018
Many talented academics, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals have gotten their start at the College of Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering, and we love hearing about their successes in life after CPSPE. Alumni like Dr. Sachin Jain, Founder and Director of SKYi Composites, make us proud.
This month at the 10th annual PLASTINDIA Conference, a convention and exhibition of all things plastics, Dr. Jain’s company won two prestigious awards for its accomplishments. The first was a gold trophy in Innovative Polymer Materials for their LFT composite products. The second was the Best Stall Award based on openness, design, and aesthetics.
“It was amazing,” Jain said. “We did [an] innovative display- [we] used props and products instead of [a] poster with information- and that gave people a “feel” of the products.”
SKYi Composites is a manufacturer of thermoplastics composites and SKYi innovation, which Jain says is “mainly aimed at building and design solutions based on new technologies.” Jain himself has broad international experience, having first studied in India before receiving a Master’s Degree in Polymer Engineering at The University of Akron. He had worked on research and development in the US, Japan, Netherlands, Germany, and in India before starting his now award-winning company.
Dr. Jain’s vision and SKYi’s innovation fit in well with the theme of this year’s PLASTINDIA Conference: Empowering Growth. This huge event, which took place on Feb 7-12, brought in over 200,000 visitors and 600 overseas exhibitors from 40 countries. Competition was high, and we are proud of our alumnus Dr. Sachin Jain for bringing home the gold! Congratulations, Dr. Jain.
