Community Issues and Civic Awareness: Why Is It Important?
A panel of local city and county representatives will discuss current community issues and why civic engagement is important.

Direction Home Training and Resource Fair
CAST and the College of Health Professions will collaborate with Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency on Aging and Disabilities to host a training session focused on gerontology, as well as providing a resource fair for services and staffing needs for the aging population.

Battered Women's Shelter Bus Trip
CAST and the College of Health Professions will arrange a bus trip to the Battered Women's Shelter in Akron. Once on site, students will receive an overview training on domestic violence and provide volunteer services to the shelter's residents.

Akron Snow Angels Field Trip
CAST and the College of Health Professions will arrange a trip to the Akron Snow Angels, who provide items and services, such as coats, clothing, blankets, and warm meals to the homeless in the Akron area. Students will collect resources for the homeless and assist with food and clothing distribution.

Stop, Assess, Support: An Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders
In an effort with the Autism Society of Greater Akron, CAST and the College of Health Professionals will offer a training session for students on autism awareness and why it is so important to first responders and health care providers working with patients/clients on the autism spectrum.
