UA Professor Assists National Organizations in Strengthening their Relief Roles

12/21/2020

University of Akron Professor Dr. Jeffrey Pellegrino is helping the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross update critical emergency assistance information it shares with its outlet offices nationwide.

Dr. Pelligrino, assistant professor in the Department of Disaster Science and Emergency Services, has co-written recent updates and rationales for various first-aid procedures that hopefully will help in life-saving situations.

A native of N.Y., Dr. Pelligrino was also recently honored for his lifetime of humanitarian work with induction as the first non-Canadian into the Order of the Red Cross, the highest honor bestowed by the Canadian Red Cross. His work over his more than 30-year career for the two organizations has included service as a disaster volunteer as well as first aid instructor.

Read more on Dr. Pelligrino’s outstanding contribution.
