Master of Science in Computer Science

About the Degree

The M.S. degree program in Computer Science combines courses in computer science principles and practice. The program provides the student with a solid computer science background in preparation for governmental or industrial employment or for continued study at the Ph.D. level in computer science.

Most full-time degree candidates admitted into the program will complete the degree requirements in two years. The thesis option requires 30 semester hours of graduate coursework while the non-thesis option requires 39.

Computer science involves the abstract representation of concrete or physical problems and their effective translation to digital technology. Typically this involves the storage, transformation and transfer of information through the use of computer programs, databases and networks.
