Graduate School application

Applying to Graduate School at The University of Akron is a seamless process.

Through the online application system you can submit your application and application fee electronically. You can also upload any required supple­mental materials (letters of recommendation, statement of purpose, resume, etc.) in the online application system.

You will receive notification via e-mail when an admission decision has been rendered.

Master's Degree Application

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or have met the requirements for the baccalaureate degree which will be awarded prior to the beginning of graduate study

NOTE: Students applying to the Consortium of Eastern Ohio Master of Public Health program should visit the consortium's site all application information.


Doctoral Degree Application

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Hold a master's degree from an accredited college or university (some doctoral programs allow admission without a master's degree; consult the academic department for specific requirements)

Certificate Program Application

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or have met the requirements for the baccalaureate degree which will be awarded prior to the beginning of graduate study
  • Certificate programs may be pursued independently or while pursuing a graduate degree

Non-Degree Seeking Application

  • Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or have met the requirements for the baccalaureate degree which will be awarded prior to the beginning of graduate study
  • Do not wish to pursue a graduate degree but seeks to take graduate courses for professional or personal improvement

Transient Student Application

  • Regularly enrolled graduate student in good academic standing in a degree program at another accredited college or university and seeks to enroll in graduate coursework at The University of Akron.

Undergraduate Student to take graduate courses

  • Regularly enrolled undergraduate student at The University of Akron may be granted permission to take one or more graduate-level courses
